APPLUS certifies ECOFIRE's extinguishing capability for lithium battery fires

The ECOFIRE extinguishing agent, distributed by ECOFIRE Global Distributor, has obtained official certification from APPLUS, an international benchmark in testing and certification, which endorses its ability to extinguish fires in lithium batteries.

In the absence of a specific official standard for this type of test, ECOFIRE GLOBAL DISTRIBUTOR decided to submit its product to a pioneering test in the sector, designed to evaluate the behaviour of the extinguishing agent against one of the most complex and dangerous fires today: that originating in lithium batteries.

The APPPLUS results confirmed the ability of the 6L and 40L ECOFIRE to extinguish such fires effectively and safely, marking a major breakthrough in protecting against risks associated with the storage and handling of lithium-ion batteries, which are increasingly present in industry and electric mobility.

One of the aspects highlighted by APPPLUS in its certification is that ECOFIRE does not react with lithium, thanks to its low water content. This feature differentiates the product from other extinguishing agents on the market which, due to their high water concentration, can react violently and dangerously on contact with lithium.

In addition, it should be noted that during the tests carried out during the summer, the ECOFIRE RACK CONTROL already demonstrated its efficiency by controlling a fire that originated on a pallet containing lithium batteries with a total of 52 KW.
